BOWLING.

OP AW A CLUB. The annual meeting of the Opawa Bowling Club was held at St Marks Schoolroom last evening, the president (Mr A. S. Bruce) in the, chair. There was a large attendance of members. The committee's report stated that the membership of the club had been sixty-seven at the opening of l asfc sea " son. The season had beeii a vei'y successful one. and the generosity of the president (Mr A. S. Bruce), Mr JAmes and other donors of prizes had done much to promoto keen competition amongst members. Members were urged to do their best to introduce now members to the club. . The balanco sheet showed a debit balance of £7l 18s 7d on the year's working. It was explained that during the year there had been an ■expenditure of £ll3 which would not recur, and that under normal conditions there would havo been a credit balanco of about £4(5. The statement of assets and liabilities showed a balance of' assets over liabilities of £209 10s Bd. The report and balance sheet were unanimously adopted. | Tho election of officers resulted as follows:—President, Mr G. Collins; vice-presidents, Messrs H. A. Bruce and 11. R. Malcolm; committee, Messrs Kissoll, Dowds, Besti Petrie, Schneider and Farrow; hoiforary secretary, Mr Perkins; honorary treasurer. Mr Hillary; delegates to Christchurch Centre, Messrs J. Clark and C. E. Jones; honorary auditor, Mr H. A. Bruce.

A letter was received from the Christchurch Centre of the New Zealand Bowling Association, asking for an expression of opinion regarding the advisability of continuing, modifying or discontinuing tho present system of pennant matches. A letter was also received from Mr J. H. Seager, embodying his suggestion regarding a modified form of pennant competitions. On the motion of Mr J. Clark it was

decided to approve of tho principles involved in Mr Seagers proposed system, members expressing the opinion, however, that it was not desirable to support every detail of Mr Seager ? S plan. \At the conclusion of the meeting tho prizes won during the season were distributed and the members wero entertained at a supper and smoke concert by Mr and Mrs A. S. Bruce.
