Mrs Castle was recently divorced, and j was on her honeymoon with her new ! husband, named Charlton Porter, son of a Washington Judge, who suggests that Porter has also been murdered. Tho Italian police, however, aresearching for the husband, as they believe he ill-treated his wife. Mrs Castle's face and limbs bore signs of a terrible struggle after she was thrown into tho lake. The police also suggest that the murder is connected with the mysterious discovery of the nude body of Stella i Reid, a California!! girl, recently found in the Bay of Naples and supposed to have been thrown overboard from a yacht. (Recoivod June 13, 11.45 p.m.) Tho Charlton Porter mystery has caused a sensation throughout Italy. A telegram from New York says that last August Mrs Charlton Portor, who was a fascinating woman of great beauty, shot and wounded her lawyer in tho Waldorf Astoria Hotel. The victim refused to prosecute. Sho is seventeen years older than Charlton Portor, who is a youth, weakly, consumptive and incapable of murder. His letters to his wifo suggest extrome jealousy. His letters to Ispalatoff incriminate the arrested Russian. The crime has caused a sensation in America. (Ispalatoff, a Russian, has been arrested at Como on suspicion of murdering Mrs Crittenden Castle, an American dramatic artiste. A box containing the body was found in the lake. It is supposed that she was put into tho box in a stunned condition and died from asphyxia.)
