A Borlin message says that the Court in Silesia sentenced Goldstein, an cxdotcctive of the Cairo police, to eight years' imprisonment for attempting to kill Harvey Pasha, commandant of the Cairo police. THE CHILIAN NAVY. LONDON, June 13. Tho Chilian Chamber of Deputies lias authorised a loan of £4,000,000 for the navy, of which a million will be devoted to coastal defence. A sum of £400,000, voted annually, will bs accumulated for future naval construction. RAISULI'S NEW POST. The Tangier correspondent of the "Times" roports that Raisuli has been appointed Governor of the Alcagar district of Morocco. CANADA'S NEW GOVERNORGENERAL. OTTAWA. Juno 13. It is expected that the presence of the Duke and Duchess of Connaught will Ottawa and Montreal leading social centres, and that many leading Americans will spend tho winter in Canada. MAIL SERVICES. Mr Lomieux, Canadian PostmasterGeneral, announces that there will bo three mail .services shortly between Canada and Britain. The Government's aim is that none shall go via New York. ELECTRIC POWER FROM NIAGARA A njunicipal system has been organised by the Ontario Government for the distribution of electrio energy generated at Niagara Falls. The Government will deliver power at Toronto in October, and at London and St Thomas, a hundred miles west of tho Falls, at the end of 1910. This is expected to enable the province to be linked up with tho New York electric tramways.
