Graham defeated Springfield in 2min 39seo. NEW ZEALAND AMATEUR ASSOCIATION. A meeting of the Council of the New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association was held last evening, Mr G. Reese presiding. A letter was received from the Wanganui Centre, asking that recognition should he granted to W. Peiihall for services rendered in connection with life-saving. It was decided to forward the request to the Royal Life-saving Society. The Wanganui Centro forwarded a donation of £1 Is for the Webb Memorial Fund. A large amount of correspondence from the Auckland Centre in reference to certain reinstatements was referred to a committee. The selectors of the Canterbury Centre of the New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association have chosen the following teams for a trial water polo match, to be held in the Sprovdon Bath this afternoon: —A team—Goal, G. Lester; full-back, W. Manhire; halves, H. Williams and Y. Drake; forwards, E. Johnston, P. Mason and W. L. Dodge. B team—Goal, R. Rich; full-back. A. Russell; halves, W. Cookson and G. Gemmed; forwards, J. W. M’Cracken, A. Bright!ing and L. Hales. Emergencies—P. Schwartz, G. Bull and F. Dodge. The Canterbury Centre of the New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association will hold a carnival in. the Tepid Baths on Thursday evening, to raise funds to send a polo team to- the New Zealand championship meeting at Auckland next- month. An attractive programme has been arranged. It. includes a 66 2-3yds inter-club handicap, 33 l-3yds ladies’ handicap, a relay rnce, an obstacle race, high and springboard diving, a water polo match and an exhibition of fancy and trick diving by Mr B. Olds and his company. Entries for the events will close this evening, at the Pio-neer Club’s rooms. The Southbroak Amateur Swimming Club
hold a 75yds handicap on Thursday ovoning. The results are as follow*: —First heat: H. Truscott, scr, 1. Second heat: J. Evenden, 15sec, 1. Third heat: S. Ruabatch, 18sec. 1. Final—H. Truscott, scr, 1; J. Evenden, 1560 C, 2. After an exciting race Truscott won on the touch. Time—s 6 sec.
