TIMARU WOOL SALES.
[Pir Press Association.] TIMARU, December 22
The second wool sale of the season at Timaru to-day was a very satisfactory one. The attendance was very large. Bidding, especially from the Continental section, was very animated and nearly every lot was cleared under the hammer. Very little of the wool appeared to be suitable for American orders, so that there was practically no United States competition. Bradford representatives were steady buyers for low and medium cross-breds, and tho New Zealand woollen mills formed a strong factor in the competition for good to superior halfbreds. The most excited competition came from the French buyers, of whom quite a number were present, and all of them appeared to have good orders for good to super pieces. The condition of the wool was heavier than at the opening sale in November, and, taking this into consideration, prices wore quite as good as those obtained at tho opening sale. The catalogue comprised just on 14,000 bales, the sale lasting from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. The range of prices was:—Super half-bred 13d to 14*d, half-bred ll*d to 123 d, medium and inferior lOd to lid, super cioss-bred lid to 12Jd, cross-bred 9Jd to IOJd, medium and inferior 8d to 9d, super merino 10Jd to lljd, merino 9d to lOd, super three-quarter-bred lljd to 13d, good three-quarter-bred lOd to lid, medium and inferior 8d to 9d, first pieces 7d to IOJd, second pieces 6d to 7id, locks and stained pieces 4d to 5Jd, crutchings 5d to 6id-,
