Inspector Gillies is engaged in making his periodical inspection of. the North Canterbury police stations. Mr Justice Sim, of the Arbitration Court, passed through Christchurch yesterday on his way from Dunedin to Wellington. Mr Judah 1 Myers, founder of tho firm of J. Mvers and Co., Wellington, retired from business yesterday, states a Press Association telegram from Wellington. He is seventy-eight years of age, and has been in New Zealand nearly hall a century, He went to Wellington from the West Coast in 1878.
