While working on the Miniiro, one of the Tyser Company's mutton boats, in the bay this evening, a man named Bissett, of the engineering staff, fell into the hold, and his log and arm were fractured. HASTINGS, May 24. An old age pensioner named Frederick Thomas Farr, sixty-six years old, a carpenter, disappeared oil Friday, and has not been heard of sinco. Ho left a note saying, “ Feel deserted by everyono. Am going away anywhere.” The police accept it as a case of suicide, as Farr previously made a similar attempt. CARTERTON, May 24. Mrs Wi Harris, of Hautotara, Maryborough, met with a serious accident. She threw some old papers on the fire, amongst' which unknown to her was a dynamite cap. The cap exploded, severely injuring her loft thigh. DUNEDIN, May 24. George Price, aged about twenty-five years, was killed this afternoon near Wilkie's flour mill at Mosgiel. He was in the employ of tho City Corporation, and it is supposed lie somehow came in contact with a live wire. Price is supposed to have come from Tapanui. This morning three young men, who reside at Musselburgh, and whoso names aro given as Wilson, James Morris amt George Kempton, wont out in a boat on Lake AVaihcla. Tho water was rough with a high tide, and their boat upaeb and they were thrown into tho water. Thoy clung to the sido of the boat, which turned over several times, and Kempton disappeared. Their plight was observed by the stationiiiastor, Mr T. Cockburn, and ho and his assistant, Mr A. Bamborry, went out in a small boat to tho rescue. Thoy reached the men just in time to save Morris, who was quite exhausted, and held him and Wilson on tho sido of the boat until a larger boat arrived. Kempton, whose body is not yet recovered, was about eighteen years of ago. DEATH OF TWINS. An inquest was held at the Morgue last evening, before Mr H. W. Bisliop, District Coroner, on tho bodies of newly born male infants, twins, the sons of a Bromley resident. Tho evidence showed that tho children were born at 4 a.m. yesterday, and .were last seen alivo by Margaret Bradley, an uncortificated nurse nt 2 p.m. No medical man had been in attendance. It was stated that birth was premature, and tho jury brought in a verdict of death through inanition.

An inquest wart held at St Helens Station. Hammer Springs, on Saturday, concerning tho death of Walter Drake, otation cook, who was found on tlio station during tho previous evening with his throat cut. The jury found that death had been caused by a wound self-inflicted while in a state of temporary insanity. Yesterday afternoon Mr William Rowe, a farmer residing on the Native Reserve near Rangier a, met with a serious accident through falling off liis bicycle whilo herding some cattlo. Ho was rendored insonsiblo, and was attended at his home by Drs Will and Volckmann.
