WORK AND WAGES.

PREFERENCE TO UNIONISTS. At a meeting of the executive of the Canterbury Employers' Association, held last night, the following resolution was passed—" That the executive of this Association" supports the Advisory Board in its protest against any compulsion being brought upon employers which would deprive them of their right to select such labour as they deem best suited to their requirements, or which would interfere with .the inherent right of every man to earn his living by his labour unless he first subscribes to the rules of a- trade union, to which he may have personal objections ; and that this Association strongly urges upon every employer to oppose the inclusion of any preference clause in all awards ' and industrial agreements.
