.(From Omt Correspondent.] DUNEDIN, April 13. As a result of the firming of the oat market, oatmeal advanced £1 per ton to-day, making the price now £9 10«. A steamer is to be built immediately to replace the ferry boat Matariki, de- • stroyed by fire at Portobello wharf a couple of weeks ago, and a second vessel is to be obtained to replace the same , company's Moerangi. According to Councillor Barr, chairman of the Finance Committeo*of the Dunedin City Council, the city finances are in "a pretty comfortable position." During the year just closed the profits from trading concerns were:—Water £9OOO, gas £BOOO, tramways £3700, abattoirs £4OO, electric power and lighting £IOOO, total £22,100.
