According to Councillor Barr, chairman of the Finance Committeo*of the Dunedin City Council, the city finances are in "a pretty comfortable position." During the year just closed the profits from trading concerns were:—Water £9OOO, gas £BOOO, tramways £3700, abattoirs £4OO, electric power and lighting £IOOO, total £22,100.
