The following is tho Rev D. C. Bates's weather forecast to 3 p.m. to-day: " Heavy winds are probable between west and south-east in all • parts of the country, and colder weather shortly. Rain is probable generally, and snow in the high country, especially in (ho South Island. Barometer rising in the south." MR PAFLIN'S FORECAST. Mr Paulin's prediction, telegraphed yesterday afternoon, is as follows: "Squally gale from south-west. Heavy rain and sleet. All shipping warned of heavy weather.
