INDUSTRIAL ASSOCIATION.
The general committee of the .Can* terbury Industrial Association met last evening, Mr F. E. Jones presiding. It was reported by the Industries Week Committee that arrangements in regard to Industries Week were pleted. A letter had been received from His Excellency Lord Plunket, stating that he would be unable to visit Christchurch during Industries Week. No : definite reply had been received from the Railway Department in re'gaxd to the proposal that excursion fares should be charged on April 28, the special Country Day in Industries Week, it had been decided to give medals for the school essays competition, the conditions of which would be published early next week. An additional sum of £l*4 14s had been collected to provide extra prizes of books. The expenses incurred to date had amounted to £32 lis. The report was adopted, and it was? decided that the prizes should be presented at a. public meeting. The question of printing the medallists' essays was referred to the Industries Committee. Mr C. R. Ford was appointed honorary secretary. The chairman stated that he understood that the Prime Minister would be in Christchurch soon, and arrangements would be made to allow him' to inspect the exhibits in Industries Week. Mr Thomas Deanewas elected a, member of the Association. - • " .
