THE SAMOAN TROUBLE.

[Per Press Association’.] AUCKLAND, April 22. A proclamation issued by Dr Solf, the Governor of German Samoa, relating to the disaffected chiefs, states that they are to be deported with their relatives to Sipan Island, in the Caroline group; that in six islands over which they ruled no new appointments would be made for one year; all guns and ammunition must bo surrendered to the German authorities, and the head of every family must pay a tax of thirty marks in addition to the ordinary tax of twelve marks. The Governor lays stress on the lenient treatment meted out, and expresses a hope that it will be appreciated by the local natives.
