AMBULANCE DELAYS.

SOME RECENT COMPLAINTS. At a meeting of the Council of the Christchurch Centre of the St John Ambulance Association last evening the question of delays in regard to the ambulance van was discussed.

The chairman, Dr Inglis, said that there should he better supervision of the ambulance work, so that any complaints oould be dealt with promptly. It had been reported that recently the van had to wait a considerable time at the hospital before a patient could be carried into the institution. Mr A. S. Lindsay said that he could endorse the chairman’s remarks. He had accompanied the van to the hospital on one occasion when he had had to wait outside for three-quarters of an hour before the patient was carried in. The delay was due to the fact that there was no one to assist to carry the stretcher. If ihero was strict supervision delays of the kind could he dealt with promptly, and there would probably be no recurrence of them. Tt was decided that a committee should consider the advisability of a trained assistant accompanying the ran, and stricter supervision should ho maintained.
