AMBULANCE ASSOCIATION.

The Council of the Canterbury Centre of the St John Ambulance Association met last evening; present—Dr H. M’C. Inglis (chairman), Dr W. Thomas, Lieutenant-Colonel Cresswell, Miss Staveley, Messrs C. E. Salter, E. D. Mosley and A. S. Lindsay, and Captain Treleaven (secretary). The chairman stated that the executive had decided to reduce the charge for the ambulance waggon, when it was chargeable to the Samaritan Home funds, to 5s for the first hour and 2s 6d for every subsequent hour. ■ The secretary reported that the Hon D. Buddo, Minister of Internal Affairs, had. consented to be present at the Association’s annual demonstration and presentation of prizes on April 30. It was decided to station the ambulance waggon at Messrs Hayward’s Rink stables, and to request the Transport. Committee to consider the question of providing a trained assistant to accompany the waggon. A letter was received from Messrs Houlder Bros., Limited, stating that a rebate of £ll 12s would be made on the freight of the ambulance waggon from England. On the motion of Mr Mosley, it was decided to express the Council’s appreciation of the assistance given to the Ambulance Brigade at the recent camp of instruction by Lieutenant-Colonel Hawkins, Lieutenant-Colonel Cresswell and Captain Treleaven. The secretary reported that the Association had a credit balance of £291 9s Id, and the Ambulance Equipment Fund had been increased to £34 4s.

Accounts for £47 8s 3d were passed for payment.
