PARISH MEETINGS.

ST LUKE’S, CHRISTCHURCH. The annual meeting of parishioners of St Luke’s Church, Christchurch, was held last evening. There was a largo attendance, and the vicar, the Rev AV. AV. Sedgwick, presided.

In. his address the vicar said that splendid loyalty and support had been received from the parishioners. The financial state of the parish was good, and the building of the now church was progressing well. He referred to the mission to be held in the dominion next year, and expressed a hope that tho church would be consecrated in time to allow all the energies of the, congregation to be devoted to the mission.

The report of the churchwardens showed that there was a credit balance of le 3d on the year’s working. The general offertories had decreased, owing probably to the services being held in the schoolroom. The donations towards the church funds account had increased by £57, and all current expenses had been met. Tho work of the new curate, the Rev F. B. Redgrave, had been earnest, and his influence was apparent in. the parish. The untiring energy and enthusiasm of the vicar had been known to all.

In addressing the meeting, the vicar spoke of the deep growth of spiritual work, and expressed a hope that tho excellent standard sot would be maintained.

The report and balance-sheet were unanimously adopted. Office-bearers were elected as follows Vicar’s wardeu, Mr W. A. Day; people’s warden, Mr Baker; vestry, Messrs Allard, Andrews, Ferrier, Aloore, Richards, Anderson, Novis, Stewart, Cameron aud Sapsford.

Votes of thanks to the officers and church workers were carried with applause.

ST JOHN’S, CHRISTCHURCH,

Tho annual meeting of the parishioners of St John’s Church, Christchurch, was held last evening in .St Paul’s Presbyterian Schoolroom. There was a large attendance, presided over by the vicar, the Rev Harold Pnrchas. Tho report stated that the year had been very satisfactory, and the financial struggles to bo faced had been overcome by united effort. There was a. small credit balance. The general and special offertories had increased, and the organ restoration fund amounted to £9l 11s 6d, which would cover the cost of repairs. The thanks of the parish were due to the vicar and Mrs Purchas and all church workers. The report was adopted. Office-bearers were elected as follows : —People’s warden, Air AV. G. Ludbrook; vicar’s warden, Mr A. Kincaid; vestry, Alessrs Brass, Hooper, Rowe, Sharland, Luxton, Richardson, Orange, Lyon and AVhi to-Parsons and Dr Sandstein. Addresses were delivered and. votes of thanks were passed with applause. A musical programme was then given.
