OPERA HOUSE. The Cinephone continues to attract largo audiences to the Opera House each evening, and the singing and talking pictures meet with the approval that they deserve. The current programme is full of merit, a.nd tho hlms are shown in a clear and flickorless manner. Among the singing pictures that of Harry Lauder giving a comio song is one of the best. The programme will bo repeated this evening. COLOSSEUM. Dospite the fact that the current week’s programme was presented for the last time at the Colosseum last evening tho audience was large enough to fill the capacious building to tho full. Tiie pictures were very clearly shown and met with hearty applause. This evening the usual change of programme will be made, and the pictures will comprise some exceptionally interesting studies. A series will show coffee cultivation and winter sports in Savoy, and among the other films will be “India of To-day” and “The lighthouse Keeper,” a dramatic study. Another film among tho new series will show the principles of the gyroscope. HIS MAJESTY’S THEATRE. Tho All Nations’ Carnival closed its season last evening, when there was an exceptionally largo attendance, and the drawing of raffles created a great deal of interest. The musical programme was successfully presented, and throughout the evening the theatre presented an animated and busy appearance. At the close of the Carnival it was stated that the season had been thoroughly successful, and a good sum had been realised for the extinction of the debt upon the Cathedral. Miss Hettio Wood was awarded the prize donated by Miss Florence Baines for the best-dressed doll representing Miss Baines as Mary Ellen in “Miss Lancashire Limited.” MAD AME~MELBA. To-night Madame Melba will appear at. His Majesty’s Theatre. She will be assisted by Sir Frederick Ranalow, a baritone, Miss Una Bourne, solo pianist, and Mr John Lemmone. Mr Harold Whittle will be the accompanist. Madame Melba will sing a number of favourite operatic airs, and her company will give selections from the works of the best-known composers. The box plan is at tho Dresden. THE CINQUEVALLI SEASON. The members of Mr Harry Richards’s Vaudeville Company, which will open a season of seven nights at the Theatre Royal to-morrow evening, made their final appearance at Dunedin last night. A large audience accorded Paul Ciuquevalli, tho great juggler, an immense ovation. The company will leave Dunedin by the second express to-day, and will arrive in Christchurch this evening. The box plan is at the Dresden, where seats for the seven nights can be booked. ' • CHRISTCHURCH ORCHESTRA. The first concert of the season of the Christchurch Orchestral Society will be given in the Choral Hall on AVednesday evening. The programme will include the following numbers Overture, “ Gipsy Life” (Le Thiero); intermezzo, “ Cavalleria Rusticana” (Mascagni); suite, “ Enfantine ” (G. Lardelli); march, “ Hongroise ” (Berlioz); minuet, “Colombine” (Delabaye); Symphony No. 8 (Beethoven) and Prelude to Act 111. of “ Lohengrin.” Miss Doris M’Tntyre will play the violin solo. “Romance,” op. 50 (Beethoven), with orchestral accompaniment. The plan ol reserved seats will he open to-mor-row at the. Dresden, and arrangements have been made for intending subscribers to obtain tickets there.
