A VISIT FROM SOME OP THE BOYS A contingent of boys from Dr Barnardo’s Homes will appear on Monday at His Majesty’s Theatre. The meeting will bo held on behalf of tho homes for destitute children founded by Dr Barnardo in 1866 , which have since that date sheltered and trained 65,000 boys and girls and are now caring for 8000 destitute orphans and cripples. Tho visiting boys will bo in charge of the Rev W. J. Mayers, who is the senior deputation secretary of tho homes. He has been connected with the institutions for twenty-one years and was an old friend of the late Dr Barnardo. This is Mr Mayers’s second visit to tho Australasian colonies and he was very successful in 1891-2 in securing many friends for tho homes. The ten boys who accompany Mr Slayers were received into tho home in the ordinary way and still belong to it. They have been specially trained to play instruments and to give an entertainment in aid of tho institution and their work is evidence of the careful training which they have received. During the entertainment Mr Mayers will give some addresses on the work of tho homes and tho wonderful life work of tho founder. An interesting scries of pictures of tho inmates will bo shown and Mr Mayers will tell stories of the work that lias been accomplished and tho classes that are dealt with. The entertainment dees not pretend to be anything hut an appeal for tho homes and at each meeting collections will 4 bo made for tho aid of those who are in need of help.
