INVESTMENT OF TABRIZ. THOUSANDS STARVING. BRITISH RESIDENTS IN DANGER. United Press Association—By Electrio Telegraph—Copyright. TEHERAN, April 20. Thousands of women and children in Tabriz arc clamoring for bread. The British residents have cabled to Sir E. Grey, saying that they are in imminent danger of attack owing to tho desperate situation, while it is impossible for them to leave. Tho Consular guard is inadequate to protect them. AN ARMISTICE. TEHERAN, April 21.
In consequence of British and Russian representations, tho Shah granted a week’s armistico at Tabriz to prevent tho liunger-strickgn elements attacking the Consulates. The armistice had such good effect locally that an order given at Sir Edward Grey’s instance for a Russian force to occupy Tabriz has been suspended. Mr Baskervillo, an American missionary, wa6 previously killed in a Nationalist sortie to seize the enemy’s bread.
