CONGREGATIONAL UNION.

THE UNION OF CHURCHES. United Press Association—By Eieotrio Telegraph—Copyright. MELBOURNE, April 21. At the half-yearly meeting of the Congregational Union reference was made to the proposed union of churches. Dr Sevan thought they should take a straight-out course, and either say where they were going on the subject or drop it. Tho president said the Union’s committee had decided not to meet till it bad received the reports or the Lambeth Conference. Dr Bevan replied that the conference had met and “we don’t know where we are. Meanwhile eome sort of negotiations were going on between tbo Anglicans and Presbyterians. The Anglican demand for a historic episcopate was unhistorical, unchristian, illogical, and perfectly impossible, and was merely an ecclesiastical dodge to secure supromacy.” It was agreed that tho committee should submit a motion at the October meeting.
