ERNEST COQUELIN. United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. PARIS, February 9. The death is announced of Ernest Alexandre Honore Coquelin, in en asylum, from melancholia. (Ernest Alexandre Honore Coquelin, bettor known as “ Coquelin Cadet,” was borne at Boulogne-sur-Mer, on Alay 16, 184 S. Ho entered tho service of the Northern Railway Company, but being irresistibly drawn towards the theatrical profession, he went to Paris, and, in 1864, entered AI. Regnier’s class at tho Conservatoire, and throe yeara later carried off the first prize for comedy. Aftor successfully making his debut at tho Odeon in, jibe comic roles of classio pieces, he entered the Oomedie Francaise in June 1876, and played with his biether. During the siege of Paris! no gained tho Alilitary Medal for bravery at the battle or Buzonval. Among his beet creations are Ulrich in “ Le Sphinx” of Octave Feuiliet, Isidore in “La Reprise du Testament de Cesar Gircdot,” Frederic in “ L’Ami Fritz” of AIM. ErckmannChatrian, and Basile in “Le Barbier de Seville.” He was noted as a reciter, and was the author of many “ monologues,” which he delivered at public and private entertainments.) AIR JAMES CAYGILL. Air James Caygill, who died at his residence at New Brighton yesterday, was one of the oldest printers in Christclmroh. Ho was born in 1840, and came to New Zealand in the early sixties. He first obtained employment with tho “ Canterbury Standard,” but later returned to England. When ho came back to New Zealand ho bought tho “ Telegraph,” -which he subsequently sold. He then established a printing business which ho maintained till the time of his death. He was for some years a member of the New Brighton Borough Council and of tho New Brighton School Committee, and was a'member of the Loyal Orange Lodge.
