CANTERBURY SALEYARDS COMPANY.

The thirty-fifth annual meeting of the Canterbury Saleyards Company was held yesterday afternoon. Mr E. G. Staveley ; chairman of directors, was in the chair and there was a good attendance. The report stated that the year had been very successful and the directors had been able to increase the facilities of a growing market and improve the condition of the yards. Debentures had been redeemed to the extent of £ll6l 14s 3d. The quantity of stcck passed through the yards during the year had been/ 782,755 sheep, 18,755 pigs and 27,77 S cattle. The profit and loss statement showed, after providing for depreciation, a balance of £I3BS 7s •Id, which, with the balance from the previous year, after paving the dividend, left a total of £1489 9s Bd. From that amount an interim dividend of 4 per cent was paid, absorbing £616 2s 7d, leaving a balance to be dealt with of £873 7s Id. This the directors recommended should be appropriated' in the payment of a- dividend of 4 per cent on the paid-up capital, making a total dividend of 8 per cent for the year, absorbing £616 2s 7d, and the balance, £257 4s 6d, should bo canned forward. The chairman, in moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet, said that the year had been most successful. He referred to the large number of stock put through and to the enlargement of the railway siding, which, with other general improvements, had made the yards the most successful in the dominion. The motion was seconded by Mr A. Kaye and carried.

Messns H. H. Pitman and G. Ticknet were re-elected to the directorate, and Messrs Ollivier Bros, were re-appoint-ed auditors. On. Mr Kaye’s motion a vote of thanks was passed to the chairman and directors for their services. It was decided to increase the fee of the directors by £SO per annum.
