THE LATE LADY M’KENZIE.
THE PRIME MINISTER’S TRIBUTE,
[From Our Correspondent.] CHEVIOT, June 6. In the course of a speech at Cheviot to-night, the Prime Minister made reference to the death of Lady M’Kenzie. “Yesterday,” lie said, “the wife of the late Sir John M'Kenzie, the man who did so much to advance the interests of this part of the country, was laid to her last rest beside her hushaud. 1 take the opportunity of'paying a tribute of very sincere respect to the memory of that lady, whom I had the pleasure to know for a number of years. All who knew her remember well how devoted sire was to her husband, a very great man in this country, and with what simplicity and generous devotion throughout trying times she gave all her time and attention to teuding him. Amongst the Highland ladies throughout this country I know none of whom it could more truly he said that she was a noble woman. Very sincerely I regret to hear that she has passed away, and I wish that it had been passible for me to
have attended the last ceremony. A splendid daughter still survives her late father and late mother in Miss M’Keau* zie, who devoted herself so earnestly', over a long period of years to them! both.”
