The National Mortgage and Agency Company, Ltd., received the following cablegram from its London office yesterday :—"Merinoes and fine cross-breds opened at a decline of 10 per cent and medium and coarse cross-breds at 12i per cent on last sales closing rates. There is 1 a larg 0 attendance of buyers, And bidding is keen." The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency -Company, Limited, has received the following cable message from its London house, dated May 12:— " As compared with last sales' closing rates, prices are about 10 por cent lower for fine cross-bred and merino wool, about 12} per cent lower for medium and coarsef''cross-bred wool. There is active competition for cross- ■ bred wool."

The following is a copy of a cablegram dated May 12 received by Messrs Dalgety and Company. Limited, Christchurch, from their London office:— "The third scries of wool sales opened to-day with a fair selection, a largo attendance of buyers, and animated competition. As compared with closing rates of last series, prices are on the averages to 10 per cent lower for ijood merino, 10 to 15 per cent lower for inferior and faulty, 10 per cent lower for fine cross-bred, and 10 to 12£ per cent lower for medium and coarse cross-bred wools. The market for rabbifcskins is steady, and we expect that if any change in prices takes i place it will be in favour of sellers."
