—* CHRISTCHURCH SPORTS CLUB.
A meeting of tho committee of the Christchurch Sports Club was held on Saturday.
The secretary reported that he had communicated with all the local instructors respecting entries lor tho competition it was proposed to hold on May 28 and 29, and the unanimous opinion had been expressed by them that the dates were too early in tho season for the bulk of likely competitors. It was therefore decided to cancel tho dates and to open tho season on July 1 with two matches and a competition for 9st novices. The dates of tho Canterbury championships were fixed for July 27 and 28.
The application to have the Now Zealand championships carried out by the club having been granted by tho New Zealaud Council it was decided to hold them either on August 17 and 18 or August 20 and 21, the secretary being instructed to ascertain from the Theatre Royal proprietary if the latter dates were available. Correspondence was received from R. N. Gould, Timaru, and J. F. Alorris, Dunedin, with regard to a, match. It was decided to offer a prize of £2O and expenses for the men to compote on July 1, in a ten-round or a fifteenround bout.
Air H. tSharplin was appointed to act as judge at the club’s competitions, vice Air P. Campbell, who has left for England.
