PERSONAL.

Lieutenant W. Scott, of the Ellesmere Mounted Rifles, has passed his examination for commission.

Mr E. C. Gold Smith, Commissioner of Crown Lands for the Canterbury district, went to Timaru by the first express yesterday on departmental business.

Mr A. 11. C. Kilian (Lake Heron), Mr D. Orr (Ashburton), Mr A. V. Lindbergh (Dunedin) and Air G. Hogben (Dunedin) arrived in Christchurch yesterday. The Don R. M/Nab, Minister of Lands, will leave Wellington this afternoon for Palmerston North to attend tlie annual dinner of the Farmers’ Union. To-morrow he will proceed to Dannovirke, whore lie will deal with a number of departmental matters, lie will return to Wellington on Saturday night. Colonel Fisher and Mr R. O. Duncan were passengers for Wellington by the Mararoa yesterday evening.
