A man named James Ward was found lying on tho river bank on Saturday night suffering from an overdose ofl chforodyne. He was taken to tho police station by a constable with tha idea that he was drunk, but later he was removed to the Hospital, where tb~ attendants had to keep him moving all night lest he should fall asleep. Tester* day lie was charged before Mr H. W. Bishop, S.M., at the Magistrate’s Court, with having attempted to commit suicide, and on the application of tho police he was remanded to May 16.
