Detective Broberg, the principal officer concerned in the arrest of Matenga at Gisborne, has been granted a reward of £4O by u he Police Department, and Constable Skinner, his companion, £ls. Mr W. L. Davis, one of the oldest miners in the Wakatipu district, died suddenly at Stoney Creek. In the palmy days of Skippers, he used to send down sensational returns. The appointment of the permanent heads of departments ae members, and Mr Amelius Smith as secretary, of the Public Sendee Superannuation Board, is gazetted. The Rev Father James Hickson has been gazetted manager of St Joseph'* Industrial School, Hill Street, Wellington .
