ENTERTAINMENTS.

On Friday evening an entertainment was held in aid of the Sydenham Cricket Club at the Sydenham Football Club's Hall, and was a great success; Mr Dennison had arranged a display* of boxing by his pupils, and those who took part were Messrs R. Mayze, Lloyd, A. Nash, Savage, Dunmeado, Nelligon, Griffin, Thompson and Mayfield (2). They gave a very interesting exhibition. Mr Dickey recited and Mr Allan gave two step dances, Mr Cusworth providing the music. The chairman (Mr M'Kenna) thanked Mr Dennison and those who had contributed to the enjoyable entertainment. A social gathering to close the season of the Lauriston Mutual Improvement Society was held in the Schoolroom on Friday, October 25. There was a large attendance, and danoing was thoroughly enjoyed. The music wah provided by Messrs W. Cook, E. Hampton, E. Syme and M'Kendry. Songs were sung, and refreshments were provided by the ladies.
