DUNEDIN NOTES.
[From Our Corrksponxiext.]
DUNEDIN, October 14. Mr C. G. Wilson has been appointed sole selector of tho Otago cricket team. Tho Mayor and tramways manager will proceed to Wellington on Tuesday. It is anticipated that the representatives of the four centres will wait on the acting-Ministcr of Public Works in opposition to tho Tramways Amendment Bill. The Mayor will also bring under tho Attorney-General’s notice the amendments the Dunedin City Council desire in tho Fire Brigades Bill.
An oil painting, believed to be a genuine Turner, has been discovered at Alexandra South. The painting first came to Dunedin some forty years ago. From April to September 2502 tubes of vaccine wore issued by the local Health Officer, while during the whole ■of last year only 2813 tubes were issued. It is contended that with the 41b loaf *at 71 d the baker makes a larger profit when flour is dear than when flour is cheap. The bakers’ scale fixes tho 41b loaf at 5d when flour is £7 & ton, and 7]d when flour is at £l4 a ton. An extra -]d in the 41b loaf makes it 7]d with flour at £l2 6s. Tho present price is not, therefore, made out, even tested by the bakers’ own scale.
