WELLINGTON TRAINING NOTES. [Pen Press Association.] WELLINGTON, October 14.
Training operations began at Trentham to-day. Heavy rain fell last night and this morning, and the tracks were sloppy. All the- work was done outside tho course proper. Mbata and Marseillaise sprinted six furlongs. Easy tasks were allotted to Shrapnel Shell and Truthful. William and Kurawaka, tho handicap candidates, ran onco round together, tlio last seven furlongs at a solid pace. Swimming Bolt, by himself, galloped seven furlongs at three-quarter pace. ./Bolus, pulling hard, was restricted to half pace work. De Witte improved his pace at the half-mile post, but was not asked to do his best. Of the Hon J. D. Ormond’s string of ten. the most interesting work was dona by Zimmerman, who galloped once round, and was picked up at the mile post by Intelligence. the pair finishing together. Pnritutu, All Red and Gold Crest were amongst other horses worked.
