Mr. and Mrs Hugo Friedlander have left Ashburton on a trip to Melbourne and Sydney. Dr Baker left for Wellington by the Kotomahana last evening.

Mrs Maslin, wife of Mr W. S. Maslin, of Geraldine, an ex-member of the House of Representatives, died on Sunday. Mr E. H. W. Westwood has returned to Neiv Zealand to represent Messrs Siemens Bros., London. Mr Ben Tillett left Wellington yesterday morning for Auckland.

Mr J. Reid,' who has been acting as clerk of the Magistrate’s Court, Lyttelton, has been compelled to absent himself from his duties, influenza being thehauso.
