THE GALE IN THE NORTH ISLAND. FLOODED STREETS. [Per Press Association.] AUCKLAND, July 23. The Ohinemuri district has suffered muchfrom the gale and flood of Saturday night and Sunday. The river overflowed its banks_ at 1.30 p.m. on Sunday, and the main street in Paeroa was like a mill. race. The low-lying land was deeply flooded, and many residents were Temoved from their homes in vehicles. The water drained off with the ebb-tide early on Monday morning.
