PREFERENTIAL TRADE.
MR LYTTELTON’S MOTION,
MR LLOYD GEORGE’S CRITICISM, United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.
LONDON, July 16
During the debate on Mr Lyttelton’s motion, Mr Lloyd George declared that in-the last few years British trade had increased considerably more even in protected markets than in the colonial markets. He ridiculed the idea that the colonies would ho content with a little preference as regards wine, tohaccoand Canadian whisky. Ho added that if the tariff reformers’ pj-oposals were accepted, one democracy in the Empire would be preying upon another.
