COACH DESTROYED BY LIGHTNING. (Received July 18, 12.27 a.m.) SYDNEY, July 17. The mail coach to Bourkp was caught in a thunderstorm. The mailman unyoked the horses and sought shelter. On returning he found the coach completely destroyed, and all the mails burned. MR DEAKIN'S HEALTH. MELBOURNE, July 17. Mr Deakin has been medically advised that it is necessary to absolutely cease work for at least a month. A BRAVE FIREMAN. At the Federal Government House, an ox-railway fireman named Pearce was presented with the Albert medal of the. first-class, for conspicuous bravery in crawling through boiling water and steam and rescuing the driver of a derailed engine at Newcastle, in December, 1905.
