BOXING.

An excellent entry has been received for tho Canterbury Boxing Association's annual local championships, which, will take place at the Theatre Royal on Thursday and Friday. There arc five competitors in the Bantam class, four in tho Feather, six in the Light, four in the Middle, and four in tho Heavy, and amongst them are Campbell and Johnson, of Dunedin; Tresizo, Lloyd and Robertson, of Ashburton; Gould, of Timaru; in addition to prominent local talent in Mayze, Nash, Andrew. Gilmour, Wright, Beeqroft and Nelligan. The committee decided to accept entry only from tried performers, and while this action curtailed the number of competitors, it prevented novices from going into the ring against experienced boxers. The team to represent Canterbury in the New Zealand Championships, to ho held in Auckland next month, will be selected! from those competing at this week’# tournament.
