MUSICAL UNION.
A meeting of the committee of the Musical Union was held on Tuesday*, Mr A. Kayo (president) being in the chair. Mr Garrard reported that he hod invited Mrs Burns, Mrs Barber and Mr F. Graham to sing the . solos in “ The Messiah,” to be given as the final subscription concert of the season previous to Ohristmas, and they had accepted. It was resolved that a special meeting of subscribers should be held next month bo amend tno rules in reference to future term of subscriptions and tickets. It was pointed out that with the reduced size of the Concert Hail in the Exhibition, it would bo impossible to produce Stanford’s Te Deum, as previously arranged, at the close of the Exhibition. It was resolved that if the Commissioners were prepared to provide the same accommodation as arranged for the opening Ode in the corridor, the society would be prepared to put the work in reliearsal. Applications tor the position of secretary, owing to the retirement of Mr Garrard, were then considered, and Mr H. A. Adley was appointed, his duties to commence on January 1.
