Mr J. U. Collins, 8.A., has been appointed first assistant master at Nelson College. , . ~ • The Dunedin correspondent ot tins paper telegraphs that the condition ot Mr William Fenwick, editor of the “ Otago Witness,” and brother ot Mr George Fenwick, managing director ot the “ Otago Daily Times,” is giving his friends the gravest anxiety. Mr George Ruthcrrord (Dalethorpe) returned to Christchurch from Dunedin last evening. Among the arrivals from the south yesterday were Messrs F. Russell (Ashburton),' H. E. Abrahams (Palmerston North), D. M. Spedding (Dunedin), D. tV. Westenra (Duusandel), J. D. Lang (Palmerston South) and R. H. Pope and A. T. Firth (Dunedin). Messrs J. L. Carl and E. Nordon left for Wellington last evening to represent the Canterbury Licensed Victuallers’ Association at the annual meeting of the New Zealand Licensed Victuallers’ Association, which will take place at Wellington to-day. Dr Heinemann, who was some time German lecturer at Otago University, died at Dunedin yesterday after an attack of influenza. He started'a collegiate school some years ago, and carried it on until it was taken over last year' by the Anglican Church to bo carried on in connection with Selwyn College. He was sixty years of ago. ' The Rev G. P. Davys, the Hon E. C. J. Stevens, M.L.C., Colonel Robin and Messrs R. Heaton Rhodes, M.H.R., and O. Witty, M.H.R., left for Wellington by the s.s. Rotomahana last evening. The passengers for Hanmer yesterday were Mrs Harley, Mr Blyth and Mr A. Crowley (Christchurch). Recent callers at the Now Zealand Government Agency, Sydney, were:—'
