A deputation, consisting; of Major Alison and Mr Herries waited upon tho Minister of Railways in regard to'the charges made for the carriage of racehorses. At the present time horses are carried free on the return trip, provided that the owner produces a certificate from the secretary of the racing club, showing that the horse has competed. They asked that horses should be carried at half-rates both ways, so as to avoid the necessity for the declaration. The Minister said that ho would consider the matter.
