DUNEDIN NOTES.
[From Our Correspondent.] DUNEDIN, May 14. In consequence of the recent death* of two of the principal members of the firm of Hallenstein Bros, it has been decided to issue 125,000 6 per cent cumulative preference shares of £1 each in the D.1.C., the ramifications of which extend throughout the colony. The directors and their families, who are large holders of ordinary shares, have subscribed for £70,000 of the proposed issue. At a meeting of the Otago Centre of the New Zealand Swimming Association, it was resolved .that, in the opinion of the meeting, the fastest times made,by New Zealanders should bo taken as New Zealand records, and that times made by visiting swimmer* during their first season’s residence should not be recorded as New Zealand record®. It was mentioned that climatic conditions rendered it practically hopeless for New Zealanders to cop* with Australians. ‘ Mr Justice Williams will, in all probability, represent Otago University at the 400th anniversary of Aberdeen University. ,
