MARKET REPORTS.

GRAIN AND PRODUCE. The wheat market is very quiet, no offers being made! by holders, while, on the other hand, there is no inquiry. It is reported that sales , have recently been made at prices in excess of quotations, but parcels which have been on the market-, for some time at a very slight advance on current rates, are still unsold. The low price at which Australian flour is offered makes any material rise in wheat locally very improbable at present. Very few oats are offering, and there are buyers only for retail quantities. Business with the North Island has been checked by reports there that new Canterbury oats would be available immeditely—which is far from being the case. ' Fresh eggs have advanced to Is per dozen, and are in good demand. The following quotations are for purchases- from farmers net cash, sacks extra: — ' - " Wheat.—Prime milling,, mixed lines,, 3s 3d; slightly weathered, rdry 2s lid to 3s, at country stations. 1 Oats. —Prime heavy: Canadians and Dana 2s, other descriptions Is lid; discoloured and light samples Id to 2d loss; all at country stations. , Flour—The New Zealand _ Flour Millers Co-operative ‘Association, Limited, quotes the following prices, par ton, local or shipping: Flour, sacks £9, 1001 b bags £9 10s, BOlb bags £9 IBs, 251 b bags £10; pollard £5; bran £4, f.o.b. Oatmeal.—£l2. , ■ Chaff. —Oatahaaf, prime bright 60s, second quality 555, at country stations. Peas.—Partridge Ss 3d, Prussian Blue 2s 6d to 2» Dd, extra prime to Bs, Blue Imperial (boilers) Ss Gd, Ivory White 4s, at country stations. - Beans.—2s lOd to 3s per bushel, at country stations. ‘ Seeds.—Ryegrass, farmers’ lines, good 3s, medium 2s 6d to 2s 9d, Italian 2s 6d to 3s per bushel at Addington. Cocksfoot, fair to bright 131 b seed Sid, 14lb 4d, light and discoloured Sd per lb. Cowgrass, good 7d to 7id, fair quality Gd to 6ld per lb. Whits clover, ordinary ad to 7d per lb. Potatoes.—Convents £l2 at country stations. . Dairy Produce.—Cheese, dairy 4Jd to sd, factory, largo oid to EJd, medium Bid, loaf 6d. Butler, fresh, local factory prints 10J;1, bulk lOd, dairy butter 7d to Bd. fared separator 3d to Sd: 'Hams and bacon, local factory 7d to 7jd. Fresh eggs Is per dozen. ASHBURTON. Cattle.—There was a yarding of over SO head, principally fat. Fat cows brought from £5 to £6 15s; fat steers, £4 2e 6d to £7; heavyweight bullocks, £8 10s to £9 2s 6d; milch cows, £3 10s; store cows, £3 15s; yearling heifers, 50s to 52s 6d; two-year-old stores, £3. Sheep.—About 2500 were yarded', the majority being stores. There was a general decline for all classes of sheep. Fat ewes sold at 10s 6d to 13s 9d; fat wethers 15s to 17s 2d; merino wethers, 8s 6d to Ss 7d; aged e-wes, 7s 9d. Fat lambs ranged from 16s 3d to IGs 9d. Many lines of forward conditioned sheep were passed in. Store Sheep.—The hulk of the lines were passed in. A line of 102 ewes and 83 lambs, all counted, was sold at Bs, and a similar small lino at 8s Sd. These were the only ■ sales of store sheep effected at auction. RANGIORA. Yesterday there was a good attendance at the Raugkn-a market. In the' stock saleyards the entry comprised 400 sheep, 250 cattle and 110 pigs. Prices were as follows:—Fat wethers 16s to 17s lOd, fat ewes 12s 6d to 14s 9d, fat lambs 12s 6d to los Id, ewes and lambs (all counted) 9s 2d, store wethers 13s Gd to 14s 9d. Cattle—Beef equal to 22s ,to 24s per 1001 b, fat steers £7 to £8 Is, •fat heifers £5 to £6, cows £5 to £7, springers £4 to £G 10s, old cows 10s to £2 10s. Young cattle wore unsaleable. Pigs—Baeoners 39s to 3os, porkers 225, stores 14s 6d to 18s, weaners 4s to Bs, suckers Is 6d to 2s Gd. In the Produce Yards prices were:— Cross-bred sheepskins 3s to 10s, merino skins 2s 9d to 8s 3d, calf-skins 2s 3d. Wool Half-bred in bales 103 d per lb, in bags 9.}d; cross-bred in bales 9}d, in bags Sjcl. Hides 3Jd. Fat poultry-—Roosters 5a per pair, hens 3s, ducks 4s 6d, geese Bs, turkeys 18s. Chick wheat made 2s 9d pet bushel, oats 2s, barley 2s-Bd, grassseed 3s Gd, peas and beans 3s, new potatoes 3d lb, . old potatoes 20s per sack. -
