MEETINGS OF SOCIETIES.
The monthly, meeting of the No. 3, Victoria, L.0.L., was held in the Orange Hall, on October 5. Several letters of condolence were ordered to he sent ‘to members of the Order. Bros. Middleton and Caygill conducted the installation of officers as f ollows : —President, Mrs Vartlia; vice-president, Mrs Brown; secretary, Mr 11. G. Gunn; treasurer, Mrs Taylor; chaplain, Mrs Laby; forewoman of committee, Mrs Wilson. The Weekly session of tho Hope Lodge, No. 8, 1.0.G.T., was held in the Albert Hall, Colombo Street, on Tuesday. The Lodge was opened by Bro Alpress, Chief Templar. Fraternal greetings were received from Port Chalmers Lodge by Sister Campbell. It was resolved to visit the Flower of Woolston Lodge on Monday, and pay a visit to Reviving Stream Lodge, Sydenham, on Friday. The Lodge then went into harmony, when songs and recitations were given by brothers and sisters. At the Oddfellows’ Hall, Gust, on Tuesday'evening, an open meeting.in connection with_ the Good- Templar Lodge took place." Mr H. Heinisch.presided. The programme included a vocal duet, by the Rev W. Spence and Mr A. Nicholas; songs by Mesdamss Spence and Dailey and Mr Nicholas. A pianoforte duet by Miss Eva Hassall and Mr A. Searell; a recitation by Miss Nelly Walker, and an instrument solo .by Mr C. Packer." An address on “ Good Templary ” was given by Mr A. D. Hassall. Refreshments were handed round-, and an enjoyable entertainment closed with a vote of thanks to the performers.
