CYCLING.

At a meeting of the committee of the motor branch of the Christchurch Cycling and Motor Club, held last evening (Mr E. F. Stead presiding), it was decided to promote a sixteen-miles open handicap and a seven-miles scratch race, confined to members of tb© club, to bo held on the New Brighton Beach in November. As prizes for this event, an accumulator was donated by Mr P. N. Sinclair, and a drum* of petrol by Mr F. B. Hughes. It was decided to recommend to the Executive Committee of the club the adoption of a more detailed entry form than has been used in the past, making provision for the following additional information for the handicapper:—The bore and stroke of engine, weight of machine and rider, and the size of the tyres, also whether a chain or a belt is used. Messrs E. H. James, J. E. Congreve and F. N. Sinclair were appointed a sub-committee to draw up the conditions governing the Dunlop Cup competitions. Advice has been received from the Heathcote Road Board by the Christchurch Cycling and Motor Club that the road over which the hill climbing competitions are to be held will be placed in a thoroughly satisfactory condition. It is probable that in view of the announcement that the h'alf-holiday next week will bo observed on Friday afternoon, instead of Thursday, that the date of holding these competitions will also be altered to the Friday. A handsome gold medal has been donated for these competitions by Messrs M. Sandstein and Son. 1 At a meeting of the Christchurch Cycling and Motor Club General Committee, held on Monday evening, it was decided to hold the annual Now Zealand Wheel Race meeting oh the date to be observed as the holiday for Anniversary Day. Mr L. L. Cordery was appointed auditor to the club.
