AMUSEMENTS.
THEATRE ROYAL. The third and last performance of “Pretty Peggy” by Mr George Musgrove’s Dramatic Company -at the Theatre Royal on Saturday evening drew-a very large audience, and the brief season closed altogether successfully. Miss Nellie Stewart’s presentation of the character of Peg Woffington was attractive and convincing, and she was the recipient of numerous manifestations of her audience’s satisfaction and delight. The support given to the principal was capital, Mr Harcourt Beatty being especially noticeable for his clever interpretation. OPERA HOUSE. The usual change of programme waa made on Saturday evening by Fuller’s Entertainers, and though there were only two new artists in the bill the change was completely satisfactory. Mr Bob Scott and Miss Kitty Beresford produced a new sketch, entitled “ Tilly’s Young Man,” the humorous situations it evolved keeping a very large audience thoroughly well amused. Mr James Opie sang new numbers, that readily found favour, and both Mr Les Warton and Mr Leonard Nelson succeeded admirably in their efforts to provide amusement. Mr Ted Trevor and “Little Cora” introduced soms new feats of contortion : into . their popular turn. The Valmoro Sisters, Miss Flo "Weston, Miss Alma Lyndon and Miss Flo Calcutt all. supplied turns of the comprehensive serio-comic order, so dear to the vaudeville stage. Mr Charles Moody sang a series of comio songs, Mr Ward Lear and Mr Ted Stanley, who were reappearing after an absence from Christchurch, supplied moi'6 comedy, and the performance concluded with an enjoyable farce. COLOSSEUM. Skating app; :d to benefit on Saturday from the stress of weather, which prevented other pastimes from holding their usual levees, and the Colosseum was well attended during the day and evening. The skaters found the floor to their/ liking, and a fairly large gathering of spectators derived plentiful amusement from the antics of their friends on skates.
