FIRES.
[Fee Peess Association.] AVANGANUI, April 3. A seven-roomc-d house on the river bank, owned by Mr John Anderson and occupied by Mr A. Pritchard, was destroyed by" fire early this morning. The”inmates had a narrow escape, anti lost everything, including paintings and a quantity of artist’s material belonging to one son. The House was insured for £2OO, and the furniture and ; effects for £250, in the Yorkshire 5 Union Office. 5 .DUNEDIN,' April i. i Two four-roomed cottages in Marion Street, Cavcrsham, were destroyed by fire early this morning. The houses were occupied by Mr Fry and Mr Turnbull, and v. ere owned by Mr Frank Shaoklook. They were insured in the Standard Office for a total of £350.
