MARKET REPORTS.

GRAIN AND PRODUCE. The markets are very quiet. Wheat is being offered freely, but mostly in damaged qualities, for which there is no demand, although samples which millers can use are saleable “at a price.” Sales havO been made of prime Tuscan at 3s 2d to 3s 2}d, at 2d to stations, which .represents current value, with “ fair ” quality at Id less. Damaged lines are worth, perhaps, 2s 6d to 2s lOd. Good fowlwheat has changed hands at 2s 6d. The Millers’ Association has reduced the price of flour by 10s per ton. Oats are weaker, in consequence of supplies from Southland being offered at cheap rates to the North Island. -Milling ' qualities are not quotably lower, but feed sorts have declined Id per bushel. Prime Duns are reported to have been sold at Is 7d, Gartons at Is 6id to Is Ijd, and Danish at Is oid, ordinary qualities of each Id less, discoloured Danish selling as low as Is Id, at country stations. A fair business is doing in good oatsheaf chaff at 52s 6d. Transactions in peas have been too small to afford quotations; values are nominally unchanged. Potatoes are offering freely, but outside markets beiiig depreciated by offers from Timaru and Oamaru- at low prices, business locally is of a retail character. Kidneys, Early Rose.' and ripe Derwents have all been sold at £4 10s, and tho closing price is £4 for guaranteed sound lines. Onions are firm at £5 15s at near stations.

Harley.—Malting, good 4s to 4s 3d, medium 3s 6d to 3s Sd, inferior 3s to 3s 3d, at country stations. * Flour. —Tho New Zealand Flour Millers’ Co-operativa Association, Limited, quotes the following prices, per ton, local or shipping:— Flour, sacks £9, 1001 b ‘bags £0 10s, 60ib bags £9 15 s, 25ib bags £10; pollard £5; bran £3 f.0.b., local £3 ss. Oatmeal.—£10.

Chaff. —Oatsheaf 62s Cd, at country stations. Poas.—Partridge 3s Id to 3s 3d, Prussian Blue 2s 6d to 2s 9d, at country stations, I Seeds.—Ryegrass, farmers’ lines, good to superior, old pasture, 3s to Ss 6d, inferior to medium 2s to 2s 9d, Italian 2s Bd to 3s per bushel at Addington. Cocksfoot, fair to bright 13lb seed 3id to 3|d per lb, 141 bto 4d, light and discoloured 2id to 3d per lb. Potatoes.—Marketable quality, any kind, £4 per ion at near stations. Onions.—£s 10s to £6 per ton at near star tions.

Dairy Produce.—Cheese, dairy SJd to 4d, factory,' large 4Jd to 44d, loaf 4id to 4|d. Butter, fresh, .local factory IOJd, farm separator 9d. salted in boxes 7d to Bd. Hams and baoon, local factory 7d to 7id. Fresh eggs Is 4d per dozen. Honey.—Farmers’ 2Jd, extracted 3£d to Sid per lb; sections, first grade, As per doßon.

There was a large quantity of wheat and oats offered at the Rangiora market yesterday, the quality of which was, on the whole, very indifferent, and the market showed a downward tendency. No business of any magniture can be reported, buyers apparently holding off. The easier tone in wheat was very marked, and as very .little was sold, quotations were practically nominal at 3s Id for Tuscan, and 3s for Hunter’s in sound condition, damaged wheat being practically- unsaleable. Good milling bats commanded late rates, viz., Ts 8d per bushel, slightly discoloured Is 6d; damaged, of .which a large quantity was offered,' being almost neglected to Is 3d to Is 4d. Of rye grass seed very little was, offered, the bulk of the seed being out of the growers hands.. .. Prices . wexe distinctly lower by fully 3d per bushel on late rates. Small lines of cocks-' foot of good quality, sold at 3Jd per lb. Early 'potatoes were difficult to quit at £4 10s to £5 per ton.

RANGIORA. At the Rangiora market yesterday the North Canterbury Co-operative Stores Company, Limited, had an entry •of 5000 sheep, 150 cattle and 150 pigs. Fat lambs made 17s to 18s 6d, fat ewes 16s to 18s, six and eight-tooth breeding owes 225, full-mouth do 18s to 20s, older sorts 13s to 15s, merino ewes 6s to 11s, store lambs 14s 6d to 16s 6d, two and four-tooth wethers 19s 8d to 20s 2d. Cattle—Beef 20s per 1001 b; fat steers £6 to £7, fat heifers £5 to £6, yearlings 25s to 30s, dry cows 20s to 50s, springers £6 to £8 ss. Pigs—Baconers 48s to '6os, porkers 20s to 32s 6d, stubblers 14s to 18s, weaners 6s to 8s 6d, suckers 3s to 4s 6d.

In the Stores Company’s Produce Yards butchers’ sheepskins made 3s to; 4s 7d, lambskins 3s 9d, farmers’ skins 2s 6d to 4s 3d, pelts to 2s 6d; wool, farmers odd lots to 7id. lb, pieces 4Jd; hides 34d; fat l|d; poultry—roosters 4s 3d par pair, pullets 4s 6d, hens 3s 6d, tux-keys 7s 6d, ducks 3s Gd; whole wheat 3s 4d per bushel, chickwheat 3s Id, barley 3s, peas 3s 6d, beans 3s 6d, ryograss seed 2s 6d, cocksfoot 3d lb, chaff 60s per ton, straw do Is 3d sack; potatoes 7s 6d sack, pig meal 7s 6d, bran 3s 6d, onions Id lb. In the Progx-ess Yax-ds Messrs Conway Matson and Sons had an entry of 600 sheep, 50 head of cattle and 20 pigs. Fat ewes made 18s, two, four and six-tooth ewes 18s Id, store lambs to 14s lid, dairy cows to £8 os, springers £7 15s, yearlings to 375, calves 245, fat steers £5 10s; store pigs tft 14s 6cl, weaners to Bs, Cross-bx-ed sheepskins 4s 6d, medium 3s, pelts 2s 3d, merino 3s 9d, pelts 2s Gd; fat IJd lb; roosters 3s 9d per couple, hens 2s 6d, ducks 3s, geese os, chickwheat 3s per bushel, barley 2s 9d, pigmeal 7s 6cl sack; potatoes £d lb; onions 6d string. GUST. At the Gust fortnightly market,' on Monday, the North Canterbury Stores 'Company had a yarding of 2289 sheep. Fat lambs made 16s 9d to 18s 6d, shorn do 15s 9d, fat ewes 16s to 18s, inferior sorts to 15s 34, fat wethers 18s to 225, five-year-old ewes 16s to 17s 3d, aged merino ewes 6s 6d to 10s. TINWALD. There was a good attendance at the Tinwald Yards yesterday, the entry comprising 8000 sheep and 50 head of cattle. Owners of cattle being prepared to accept prices below late x - ates, a good clearance was effected. Beef was easier, making 18s to 20s per 1001 b. Sheep, both store and fat, sold well at late rates. Following are prices:— Cattle—Store pens, two-year heifers £2 15s Cd to £3 6s, calves 13s to 22s 6d, yeax-lings 39s to 42s 6d, dry cows £2 8s to £2 17s Gd, two-year-old steers £4 2s 6d, dairy cows £1 10s to £4 10s; fat pens, steers £4 5s to £8 12s 6d, heifers £4 5s to £6 17s 6d. Sheep— Fat pens, cross-bred owes 14s 3d to 16s sd, merino ewes 7s, cross-bred wethers 15s to 22s 7d, butchers’ lambs 12s to 18s 6d; store pens, lambs 12s Id to 15s 104, cross-bred ewes 15s Id to 24s 3d, cross-bred wethers 17s 6d, pure-bred Shropshire ewes 2gs, merino wethers 9s 4d, merino ewes 3e.
