CHRISTCHURCH REGATTA CLUB. . The annual meeting of tlie'Ohristchuicl* Regatta Club took j>lacs last evening;, Mr J. R. MorriSbn presiding. The balance-sheet stated that the receipts, including a balance of £44 10s 5d r brought forward from the previous year, totalled £lB3 ss, comprising a share or railway fare 3 £49 12s Id, collections £4l 4s 6d, entrance fees £25 12s, and dabs' subscriptions £22 6s. The expenditure had been £l6B 15s 4d, prize money absorbing £lO4, leaving a credit balance of £l4= 9s Bd. There -were no liabilities. Mr H. Smith said that the subscriptions were going down year after year. The balance-sheet was adopted. -. , . ■Mr R. W. Barry was elected to succeed the late secretary and treasurer, Mr F. E. Asquith. Regarding the election ■ of- other officers,; Mr Kesteven said that ho would like to see representatives of rowing clubs, in preference to outsiders, filling official positions. It was agreed that the annual rega.tta should be held at Little River, and that the fixing of the date should be considered at the next meeting of the committee. Vice-presidents were appointed as follow: Messrs H..D. Buchanan, J. F. Buchanan; R. H. Rhodes, T. Quealey, F. D. Kesteven (Union). 0. Allard (Avon), F. I. Cowlishaw (Canterbuiy) and W. H. Bowen (Christchurch Amateurs). _ - Mr Kesteven reported thct circulars had been sent to various chibs in the province, asking their opinion about a proposal thai . the Christchurch Regatta Club should amalgamate with the Canterbury Rowing Association, and that stump oat-riggers should be replaced by Association clinker? in races in which the use cf the latter waa provided by the rules of the TSTew Zealand'Amateur'Rowing Association. Replies from the ■ Timara, Lytteltcn, Canterbuiy, Akaroa, Union and Avon Rowing Clubs were received. Onlv the Canterbury Club favoured the adoption of the Association pair or sculler in place of the stamp outrigger, and onlv the Tinifju and Union Clubs recommended amalgamation. Delegates from the Christchurch Amateur Club said that their opinions hf.rmonised wu-n the views of the majority of other clubs, and it'was decided to make no alteration in the present system of racing. Correspondence from the fetar Boating Club was read, in reference to the Junior Double Sculls Race, which had been rowed at the last ' Christchureh regatta Tfc again requested that the Regatta Club should ■rescind-the resolution which had been adopted bv the committee, stigmatising the Wellington Club's action as un< sportsmanlike. .',.-. ~ , "Mr Kesteven said that -t would be a craceful act to rescind the resolution and meet the Star Club in a. friendly spirit. After some discussion it was decided, on the motion of Mr Kesteven—" That, at the request of the Star Boating Club, and in order to meet them in a friendly spirit, the resolution adopted on January 7. 1904, characterising' the Star Club's action as unsportsmanlike in competing in an Asroclation clinker in the Junior Double Sculls Race at the Christchurch Regatta on December 24, ISO 3, should be expunged."
