ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES
[Per Pkess Association.] 1 ' WHANGAREI, November 24. A man named James Kirk, a cattle-driver, had several teeth extracted, under ©their, n, doctor being in attendance. Severe hemorrhage sat in. iwkl despite! all efforts to gtop it tho patient died from loss of blood. 'NELSON, November 24. A.serious accident occurred this evening. The H Battery had broken camp, and Driver Ford was shifting a piano, when ho slipped and fell, the instrument falling on him. Both collar bones were- broken, and Ford sustained some slight internal injuries. On Wednesday last, 'Mr R. S. Roy, first lieutenant of H.'M.S. Psyche, broke his leg whilo riding at Akaroa. He was taken on board his vessel and brought to Lvttelten, and will be- conveyed to the Christchurch Hospital this morning. Yesterday lie was reported to be doing well. A man named Albert Ransell had his right hand injured in some mnchinerv at the Avonside wool-scouring works yesterday afternoon. He was taken to the Hospital, where ono finger was amputated'. The Akaroa correspondent of the " Lyttelton Times" telegraphs that the body of William Curry, an employee of Mr E. Ei Lelievre, who had been missing since Friday, November 11, was found yesterday morning in the harbour, near Green Point. An inquest on the remains was opened last evening before Mr G. Armstrong, acting coroner, and a jury of six, when evidence of identification was taken. The inquest was then adjourned until Wednesday. At an inquest held at Oknin s Bay, before Mr H. C. Orbell, acting coroner, and a jury of six, on the body of F. M. James, Dr Hargreaves testified: that death was due to failure of the action of the heart, and a verdict was returned accordingly.
