[Per Press Association-.] AUCKLAND, November 23. A child had a marvellous escape from being killed by an electric tram-car on the Khyber Pass Road. The motorman, named’ Bach, after applying the emergency brake, stooped over the apron and lifted the child on" to the car by her hair, scathless. DUNEDIN, November 23. Elizabeth Somerville Watson, about 31 years of aga, committed suicide at Roslyn this morning by cutting her throat with a razor. Her mother committed suicide in a similar manner five weeks ago. This proved a great fJhock and deceased, has been depressed since. She appeared to l>o all right at breakfast and must have been seized with sudden frenzy, as after being out of sight for a few minutes she was found with a deep cut in her throat and a razor by her side. At the inquest the jury returned a verdict of suicide while temporarily insane.
