CANTERBURY ROWING ASSOCIATION. A. meeting of the Canterbury Rowing Association, was held last evening; present—Messrs J. R. Morrison (Canterbury, in tho chair), F. D. Keeteven (Union), F. D. Stokes (Avon); IT. H. Smith (Christchurch Amateur) and' A. K. M'Gregor (Akaroa). The Akaroa. Regatta, programme was passed with certain amendments and alterations. including rules to the following effect:—All rowing mere should bo carried! out under the rules of the New Zealand Amateur Rowing Association ; junior fours, youths’ fours, maiden fours and! maiden double, sculls should' be rowed) in Association clinker ‘ boats; pair-oars, youths’ junior and senior double sculls and senior single sculls should l he rowed in stump outriggers, ae defined, and approved by the Canterbury Rowing . Association ; three crews should start in each race nr there should bo no second prize; in youths’ rowing races entries should he accompanied by certificates of birth ; stump outriggers should bo clinker built and should be not more than 22ft 6in in length over all and not loss than sft 3in in breadth, and the length of the outrigger should not exceed ton. inches. A letter was received from Mr S. L. Partridge, one of the Association's delegates to the New Zealand Rowing Association, informing the Association of the business done at the annual meeting on September 30. A vote of thanks was passed to Mr Partridge for his report. The secretary of the New Zealand Rowing Association wrote, stating that permission had been granted for the maiden double sculls and pairs at the Lyttelton Regatta to bo rowed in boats as defined by the Canterbury Association, with the proviso that a copy of the Association's definition should bo printed in the official programme. Tho proposal of the Canterbury Association that the Australian Associations should bo invited to send crews to compete in the championship events was discussed, and tho Council was recommended to endeavour to'make the arrangements suggested, and to consider the possibility of sending a crow to Australia. The championship events would bo decided) at the Wellington Regatta. The secretary of the Timaru Club wrote, applying for the reinstatement of Peter Campbell and Thomas Thompson, who, on December 16, 19031 competed in a whaleboat race for a. cash prize. It was agreed that the application should be forwarded to the New Zealand Association. A letter was received from the secretary of tho Lyttelton Regatta Committee, stating that the committee could see no reason to alter its, decision regarding the senior pair-oar race at the regatta of 1904, and the prizes hail been paid over to the proper crews, Mr Iveeteven said that the matter should be referred to the New Zealand Association, and it should bo advised that the Canterbury Association had done all it could to make arrangements in accordance with tho decision of the officials, but the Regatta Committee had refused to pay over the prize-money to the proper crews. The matter wan referred to the New Zealand Association. Mr A. E. Craddock was appointed starter and Mr N. L. Macbeth umpire for the Lyttelton Regatta. The ■ Christchurch Regatta Club’s definition of a stump outrigger was adopted.
