CHRISTCHURCH. Wednesday, November 23. (Before -Mr H. Pearce, J.P., MrP. Pender, J.P., and Mr H. J. Otlcy, J.P.) Discharged. —Charles Young, seventeen years of age, on remand, came up for sentence. on a charge of having stolen 18s 4d, tho property of Archibald Stewart. SubInspector Dwyer stated that inquiries had been made regarding tho accused, and, as far as the police could ascertain, he had never been before the Court previously. His homo was at Ashburton, and his parents were respectable people. Tho Bench discharged tho accused with a caution. Drunkenness. —Robert Dunn, who had been convicted of drunkenness on November 8, pleaded guilty to a charge of a similar nature, and was fined 10s, in default forty-eight hours’ imprisonment. The accuser! said that he wished to take out a prohibition order against himself, and one was issued in accordance with his request. —A first offender was fined ss. Offences against By-laws.— George Gibson, Abraham Barrett, Edwin J. Mansfield, James Murphy and Charles Smith were each fined 10s for having ridden bicycles at night without lights.—A similar fine was imposed on Curl G. Johnson, who had ridden a bicycle on a footpath.— Henry Newton was fined 10s for having driven a vehicle in Manchester Street at night without a light. LYTTELTON. Wednesday, November 23. (Before Mr J. T. Brice, J.P., and Captain Marciel, J.P.) A Sailor’s Freak. —Eugene Lorial, a seafaring man, was charged with stealing an advertising board, value ss. The board had been left outside a shop on Norwich Quay on Tuesday night, and .the accused, who was somewhat under the influence of liquor at the time, waa arrested by the police while walking away with it. He was fined 10s, with forty-eight hours’ imprisonment in default of payment.
